Iraq: Yazidis' Escape From Mt. Sinjar

The Yazidi are an ancient religious group living mostly in northern Iraq. In June 2014, militants swept into their towns and villages -- kidnapping, raping and killing. Many Yazidis fled to Mt.

Sinjar in fear without shelter, food or water. Kurdish soldiers have been airlifting them to safety but, they must now face the harsh winter in unfinished buildings in Iraqi Kurdistan. The World Food Programme helps by giving them food vouchers and staples like, rice, cooking oil and pasta...keeping them alive, warm and giving a little comfort to those who have lost their homes and loved ones.
