29 December 2016 – ROME/BAGHDAD – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has welcomed a contribution of US$7.1 million from Denmark to provide emergency food assistance for thousands of Iraqi families affected by the continuing crisis in Mosul.

Iraq, 20 December 2016 - The Government of Kuwait has donated USD 4 million to support IOM’s assistance to Iraqis displaced by military operations in Mosul.

Baghdad, 23 December 2016 – Nearly two-thirds of the more than 60,000 displaced Iraqis who have fled Hawiga since an intensification of military operations to retake the district from armed groups in August have been provided with emergency assistance and shelter by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.

Baghdad, 20 December 2016 - UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has welcomed the latest contribution of Euro 3m from Germany to provide protection and assistance to more than 3 million displaced Iraqis. This latest funding brings the total amount received from Germany to Euro 24m in 2016 and Euro 39m over three years. This generous support will enable UNHCR to continue its interventions to promote IDP protection, and provide winter assistance through the cold season.

Baghdad, 19 December 2016 - UNESCO and the European Union (EU) have signed an agreement to support primary and secondary education for IDP and refugee children and youth in Iraq.

​Iraq, ​16 December 2016 - Two months into Mosul operations, which began on 17 October, more than 99,300 Iraqis are currently displaced. Over 53,700 are from the central Mosul sub-district of Merkaz Mosul.

13 December 2016 Iraq - Within the past week (6-12 December) over 9,800 displaced Iraqis have arrived at the Emergency Site in Al-Qayara Airstrip in Ninewa governorate. Most had fled their homes due to armed conflict and were in immediate need of humanitarian assistance.

BAGHDAD – In the single largest humanitarian aid delivery in eastern Mosul since the current conflict began, the World Food Programme (WFP), UNICEF and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) yesterday provided food, dignity kits, water purification tablets, jerry cans, baby hygiene kits and more for 42,000 people in eastern Mosul. For the first time in over two weeks, security conditions have allowed humanitarian agencies to reach families living in the suburbs of eastern Mosul, many of whom are in desperate need of assistance.

9 December 2016, Iraq - Iraq’s Ministry of Displacement and Migration (MoMD) and IOM this week welcomed more than 5,000 displaced Iraqis (more than 800 families) to the new Al-Qayara Emergency Site in Ninewa governorate.
