Erbil, 27 December 2016 - The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Human Rights Office (HRO), in coordination with the Kurdistan Region in Iraq Ministry of Education (MOE), Independent Board of Human Rights (IBHR) and the Ministry of Endowment & Religious Affairs organized the final meeting of the steering committee formed to review the curriculum of religious education and knowledge of religions for secondary education in Kurdistan.

Geneva, 29 November 2016 - We continue to receive reports of serious breaches of international human rights and international humanitarian law by ISIL in and around Mosul. ISIL has been installing rocket launchers and placing snipers on the rooftops of civilian houses. Those who refuse to allow their houses to be used in this way are threatened or killed.
Erbil, 13 November 2016 – The UNAMI Human Rights Office (HRO) conducted a training course for youth leaders in Ninewa on Community Reconciliation and Social Cohesion on 11 and 12 November 2016, enabling 35 course participants to be acquainted with accountability and reconciliation principles, both on the theoretical and practical levels.
GENEVA (11 November 2016) – As mass graves and further evidence of sexual exploitation of women and girls, torture and killings, child recruitment and other grave human rights abuses committed by ISIL in Iraq come to light, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein has called for immediate action to ensure that the rights and the needs of victims and survivors are met – including, crucially, the need for justice, truth and reconciliation.
