BAGHDAD – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has launched a digital cash card programme to provide food assistance to thousands of displaced Iraqi families and Syrian refugees across Iraq.

The Kurdistan Region of Iraq, 12 April 2016 – Today, Syrian students celebrated the opening of a new school in Basirma camp. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Local Administration of the Kurdistan Region, teachers and parents.

BAGHDAD– The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) welcomes a contribution of US$6 million from the Government of Japan towards its emergency food assistance programmes supporting displaced Iraqis and Syrian refugees inside Iraq.

this week in Stuttgart marked the program’s achievements: the movement of over 1,000 of

the most vulnerable women and children targeted in the ongoing conflict in Iraq to the State

of Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

ERBIL, 17 November 2015 – Building on Japan’s continuing support to the government and people of Iraq, twenty fully-equipped paramedic ambulances were handed over to the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Bureau for Migration and Displacement (BMD) in a ceremony today at the Baharka Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Erbil, Iraq. The ambulances are being provided as part of the project “Increasing Access to Emergency Response Services for IDPs and Refugees in the Kurdistan Region”, implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) on behalf of the Government of Japan and in partnership with BMD. The project aims to support the BMD in providing emergency medical services to IDPs and refugees residing in three Iraqi governorates – Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, and Kirkuk.

Dead Sea, 9 November 2015 – A new Resilience Agenda has been adopted at the high level Resilience Development Forum on 8 and 9 November in Dead Sea, Jordan attended by delegations from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Turkey and Syria. The pathbreaking Resilience Agenda presents five key principles for helping people impacted by the crisis in the Middle East.
