Baghdad, 3 December 2011 – Under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister of Iraq, the Ministry of Planning lunched findings of Iraq Knowledge Network (IKN) survey. The Deputy Minister of Planning and Head of Iraq’s Central Statistics Organization, Dr. Mehdi Al-Alak, and the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Resident & Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, Ms. Christine McNab, jointly launched the findings of the survey which represent socio-economic statistics collected from around 29,000 households at the district level in all 18 governorates of Iraq.

Baghdad, 7 December, 2011 -- The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Martin Kobler, condemns in the strongest terms yesterday’s terrorist attack that targeted pilgrims and resulted in killing and wounding dozens of people.

Baghdad, 13 December 2011- “It is the duty of all Iraqis, in particular the youth of this country, to make human rights a reality,” Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Iraq  (SRSG) Martin Kobler said in his address at a ceremony he hosted yesterday at the UN Headquarters in Baghdad to mark the International Human Rights Day.  In attendance at the celebration were an array of Iraqi dignitaries, officials and representatives of civil society, and members of the international community.

Baghdad, 4 January 2012- The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Martin Kobler, met today in Sulymaniya the President of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Jalal Talabani. He also met in Erbil yesterday with the President of the Kurdistan Region, H.E. Masoud Barzani; the Speaker of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region’s Parliament, Mr. Kamal Kirkouki; and the Minister of Interior, Mr. Karim Sinjari.  عربي  كوردی

Baghdad-5 January 2009- The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG) Staffan de Mistura condemns in the strongest terms the attacks targeting pilgrims both yesterday and today. The SRSG described these actions that resulted in the killing of at least forty pilgrims in Al Kadhimiya on Sunday, 4 January and injured scores more, as well as the booby-trap detonated on Monday, 5 January, wounding at least a dozen other civilians as “appalling and unjustified crimes.”
