UNMAS divers clear Fallujah's Iron Bridge

The Iraqi city of Fallujah on the Euphrates River west of Baghdad has seen repeated conflict over the years.

Najaf, 25 April 2018 – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš, met with Adel Edan, Head of the IHEC office in Najaf, with whom he discussed the preparations in the Governorate for the Council of Representatives elections scheduled for 12 May 2018. Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mr. Kubiš said that he was encouraged by the public interest, in particular among youth and women, in the elections in the Holy City and was pleased with the progress of the electoral process.
